Before Miguel leaves, he tells the boss that when he sent in a resume under his actual name, he never heard back. When he’s much older, Miguel, as “Mike Rivers,” applies for a job, and the boss asks him if he speaks Spanish, since that will be helpful. Miguel’s family listens to the game on the radio, but all Miguel wants is to see an actual game. An older man is watching it, and even bonds with Miguel over baseball.

Miguel’s father gets laid off from his job, and him and Miguel’s mother, Beatriz, talk to Miguel about moving to the United States.
